Dear Springbank Curling Club Members
We hoped that the next correspondence we had with our members would be one of positive outcomes for the remainder of the season. Unfortunately, following the announcement by the Government of Alberta on Friday January 29th 2021, we regret to inform you the remainder of the 2020/21 season is cancelled.
The staged reopening of sport activities over the next several weeks is not in our favour. In accordance with these guidelines, we would not effectively be able to reopen until late March at the earliest. A major construction renovation project slated to start at the beginning of April at Springbank Park For All Seasons, prevents us from keeping the ice in longer than our usual schedule. Therefore, the decision has been made jointly between SCC and SPFAS to remove the ice now to limit further costs.
The SCC executive is actively managing the club finances and yearend liabilities. A financial review of the club will be made available to members at the AGM in April, at which time the SCC will determine any refunds of fees which may be possible. Any refunds will be made directly to the team skip for redistribution to their players or preferably left on account for credit towards next season.
We would like to thank all our members for their support and understanding during this disrupted season. A fresh start for next year will be anxiously awaited.
Stay safe, be healthy, and take care of your families.
Neil Somerset
President – Springbank Curling Club
